This material, often called "Larvikite" is actually a igneous rock (anorthosite) in which the predominate feldspar is labradorite that exhibits a blue "shiler sheen". Marketed under a variety of names. You see it on "granite" kitchen countertops where it is called blue granite or blue pearl. One of the major producers is Larvik, Norway. It used to be sent over to this country on ships returning from Europe as ballast and was discarded when they docked.
